The Life of Willie Alexander Chapman

Our beloved father, grandfather and uncle, Willie Alexander Chapman transitioned from his earthly home surrounded by his children on January 11, 2020.He was married for 66 years to the love of his life, Geraldine L. Chapman who preceded him in death. Willie was born to Olivia Batten and Willie Chapman on November 28, 1931.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings Nannie Beatrice Chapman, Leroy Chapman, Myrtle Edwards, and Gerdia Chapman, grandson Divine Dreshaun Clark, and granddaughter Lisa Jean Chapman. He was a very faithful member of Pentecostal Holiness Church of God, serving on the deacon board and singing in the Senior Choir and the Male Chorus. He previously served as sexton and church van driver. His main hobbies were fixing cars, fishing, going to church, and enjoying family get togethers. Many called on him when they had a problem with their car. He did farm work with George Yeoman and Raleigh Edwards. After farming he worked at Luter's Meat Packing Plant where he met his future wife Geraldine. He drove 18 wheelers for Eugene Nelms Trucking. He worked at Beale's Meat Packing Plant and retired from Kirk Lumber Company.

He leaves to cherish his memory sons Ronell Chapman ( Joyce), Glen Chapman (Lashell), Steve Chapman (Lisa), George "Peter" Croker, and Michael Eaton (Linda); daughters Jean M. Lewis (James), Rosa L. Bland (Thomas), Angela L. Jones (Shelton), Glenda Ricks, Mae Chapman, Rita Beale (JC); grandchildren Mark Cypress, Edward Cypress, Jamie Lewis, Jason Bland, Renarta Chapman, Kimberly Davis, Dwayne, Shelton Dean, Andre Chapman, Andrenna Chapman, Antionette Chapman, Catrice Ricks, Damaino and Jacoba Chapman, Latasha May, Alvin, Tiffany and Theodore Chapman, Andrienne Etheridge, Toja Sovereign, James Beale Jr., Cierra Jennings, Justin and India Chapman, and Lory Dent; one sister-in -law Adell Brown. forty-four great grandchildren, seven great great grandchildren, four nieces, eight nephews, and a host of family and friends.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held 12pm Friday January 17, 2020 at Shivers Funeral Chapel. Viewing will take place Thursday January 16, 2020 from 4-7pm also at the Chapel. Professional Services entrusted to Shivers Funeral Chapel.
