William MacAuthor "Mack" Tynes, 76, transitioned with peace on the morning of Sunday, March 3, 2019 at Sentara Obici Hospital in Suffolk, VA. William was born on April 4, 1942 to the late John Franklin Tynes and Lillian Wilkerson Tynes in Isle of Wight County, where he received his education. He was the 8
th child of 13 children. He served 2 years in the United States Army and from 1964 to 1966 and was stationed in the Dominican Republic. He worked at the Norfolk Naval Station for 32 years and retired in 1995. After retiring, William was hired at Smithfield Packing Company in the maintenance department and worked there for 13 years before retiring in 2008. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 51 years Frances Allmond Tynes, a son, Steve N. Tynes, a daughter, Schadel T. Parker (Kevin), five grandchildren, Kiana' L .Tynes, Jasmine T. Tynes, De'Von S. Tynes, Tre'Von N. Tynes and their mother Constance B. Tynes all of Zuni, VA and Kaleb N. Tynes of Suffolk, VA. William is also survived by one brother Robert E. Tynes (Terry) of Portsmouth, VA, three sisters Ida T. Atkins, Doris T. Gwaltney, and Linda T. Williams all of Smithfield, VA, four sisters-in-law, Odell C. Turner of Windsor, VA, Irene A. Cameron of Como, NC, Sandra Allmond of Orange County, CA, and Maxine Tynes of Carrsville, VA, a godson, Avanti Johnson of Atlanta, GA and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 12pm Saturday March 9, 2019 at Emmanuel Baptist Church, Smithfield, VA. Viewing will take place Friday March 8, 2019 at the Chapel from 4-7 pm. Interment will be 11am Monday March 11, 2019 at Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery, Suffolk, Va. Professional Services entrusted to Shivers Funeral Chapel.
