Wilbur L. Thomas Jr.

Wilbur (Wil) L. Thomas, Jr., 44, of Smithfield, VA passed away on December 21, 2020 after a long-fought battle with Sarcoidosis. Wil (along with his twin, Brandon) was born on May 2, 1976, to Wilbur and Sylvia Thomas in Portsmouth, VA. He graduated from Smithfield High School in 1994. Wil loved art and enjoyed sharpening his skills in digital art, 3d modeling, and graphic art. He was an avid movie collector and loved playing his guitar. Wil had a big heart and a kind soul. Despite the health problems he battled, he always managed to make sure everyone he loved was taken care of. He checked in on and worried about his family constantly. He had a strong otherworldly connection to Brandon, without doubt from their bond as twins, and always seemed to know when Brandon needed him. He donated to children's charities and toy drives, always hoping to brighten a child's life. Wil was a devoted son, brother, uncle, and friend. His presence will be profoundly missed. Wil was predeceased by his sister, Carla, Brother, Delvan, and father, Wilbur. He is survived by his mother, Sylvia, twin brother, Brandon, brother, Troy, brother, Wilbur Grandison and nephews, Brandon Jr., Delvon, Naquan, and Miles. A Graveside Celebration will be held 1:30 pm Sunday, December 27, 2020 at Mt. Sinai Baptist Church Cemetery. Viewing will take place Saturday, December 26, 2020 from 2-4pm at Shivers Funeral Chapel.
