Walter P. Wilson

July 3, 1949 — October 25, 2020

Walter Pernell Wilson, 71 of Suffolk, VA entered his eternal rest on October 25, 2020. During his early years he attended Mt Tabor C.O. G.I. C and the latter years at Christian Home Baptist Church. He graduated from Westside High School.

He served faithfully in the United States Army from 1970-1972. Walter had a passion for cooking, traveling, singing and racing cars.

He was preceded in death by his parents, the late James Robert and Florence Estelle Wilson, two brothers James A. Wilson and Robert A. Wilson, two sisters: Janice Wilson Thomas and Barbara Wilson Johnson.

Walter is survived by his wife Carolyn Yvonne Wilson, his son Walter P. Wilson, Jr. (Raven) of Philadelphia, PA, two daughters: LaKisha P. Wilson of Smithfield, VA and Tysha P.  Wilson of Hampton, VA, three stepdaughters Annette F. Watkins (William), Racheal M. Knight-Holliman (Lester) and JaNillia M. Mann all of Suffolk, VA, three sisters; Vivian W. Evans (Ernest) and Norma Wilson of Smithfield, VA and Betty  Langhorne (Wayne) of Orlando, FL, two aunts; Annie Hall and Florence Lane of Smithfield, VA, sister in law; Evoria Joe Walton (James) of Suffolk, VA  two brothers in law; Alma Thomas and Jerry Johnson of Smithfield, VA , 13 grandchildren, 19 great- grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A Graveside Celebration of Life will be held 12 pm Saturday, October 31, 2020 at Mount Tabor COGIC Cemetery 13468 Waterworks Road, Smithfield, VA 23430. Public viewing will take place from 4-6 pm Friday, October 30, 2020 at Shivers Funeral Chapel.
