Viola Elder Woodson

Viola Elder Woodson was born on July 12, 1938 to Luther Elder and Elisse Eley. She spent her childhood and most of her life in Windsor, VA.

Viola was a beloved mother grandmother and friend. She touched the lives of many with her unwavering love nd dedication to her family. She was a true matriarch, she raised not only her own children, but extended her love and care to those who needed it most. Her home was  a safe haven where everyone was welcome loved and nourished by her home cooked meals. Viola had many passions but three stood out the most, dancing, sewing and fishing.

Viola transitioned on October 26, 2023. She was preceded in death by her mother, father, sisters and brothers, husband Phillip Woodson and her daughter Nioka ”Booty” Elder.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her son Frankie Elder (Vanessa Elder), William Elder, Tommy Lee Jones, daughter Velma Atkins, Shelia Wells (Sherman Wells); a host of grandchildren not limited to Velma Elder, Taletha Hunter, Wayne Elder (Chenita Elder), Diane Spivey Wood, Shawniqua Ford (Robert Ford) and a host of other relatives and friends.

On Friday, November 3, 2023 a Viewing will be held from 3-6pm at Shivers Funeral Chapel. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11am Saturday, November 4, 2023 also at the chapel. Interment will occur immediately after the service at Mt. Sinai Baptist Church Cemetery Ivor, VA. Please keep the Elder-Woodson family in your prayers.
