Thomas L. Ricks

Thomas L. Ricks, 75, beloved son of the late James Walter Ricks and Thelma Ricks Davis, passed away peacefully on March 27, 2026 at home with his devoted partner, Vickie by his side.

He was a native of Isle of Wight County.

Thomas, known to family and friends as Tommy, graduated from Georgie Tyler High School. After graduation, he attended Norfolk State College to further his education. He later decided to seek employment at Newport News Shipbuilding where he worked as a welding inspector.

He and his family traveled all over the country as his job required him to travel. Later in life, he relocated to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and worked with Beautiful Auto Body Shop before retiring.

He was preceded in death by his wife Yvonne, and two brothers, James Walter Ricks, Jr. and Gregory Allen Ricks.

He leaves to cherish his memory sons Derek Ricks (Jovon) of Portsmouth, Virginia, Andre Ricks (Tonya), of Newport News, Virginia and Michael Ricks (Tracey) of Texas; daughter Tonya Stanley of North Carolina; brothers Glenn Johnson (Macon), Gerald Davis (Patrice), Danny Davis and Keith Davis all of Hampton, Virginia and Ronald Ricks of Smithfield, Virginia and a very special partner Victoria White James of Newport News, Virginia; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Those we love don't go away. They walk beside us everyday. Unseen, unheard but always near. Still loved, and still missed and very dear.

At 11 am on Monday, April 6, 2026, a Celebration of Life will be held at Shivers Funeral Chapel. Viewing will take place two hours before the service, beginning at 9 am - 11 am. Please keep the Ricks family in your thoughts and prayers.
