The Life of Terry T. Simmons

Terry Terrell Simmons, 57, finished his course on the Lord’s Day October 19, 2025 in Zuni, Virginia.

Terry was born May 18, 1968 to his loving parents, the late Harold E. Simmons and Margaret Simmons in Zuni, Virginia.

Terry was a graduate of Windsor High School Home of the Dukes in Windsor, Virginia. After graduating from high school, he served our country well and was honorably discharged in the United States Navy and the Naval Reserves. His specialty was repairman for electrician and mechanical equipment. He received many citations and honors including the Humanitarian Service Medal, Joint Meritorious Unit Award, National Defense Service Medal, Bronze Star Southwest Asia Service Medal and the Bronze Star Service Deployment Ribbon. He showed resilience and strength during times of adversity during the Persian Gulf Desert Storm Conflict.

Terry was athletic, loved community and would assist anyone that needed or asked for support.

Terry enjoyed several hobbies: fishing, karaoke, music, basketball, football and cooking. His favorite football team was the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Terry will be lovingly remembered by his son Kamai Simmons (Maddie); his sisters Audrey L. Cary (Walter) of Newport News, Virginia and Vernita W. Rasul (Ismael) of Suffolk, Virginia; uncles John Simmons, Rev. Larry Simmons, Sr. (Julia), and Willie Paul Butler; aunts Gloria Woolridge, Thelma Saunders, Delmus Simmons, Catherine Butler and Paulette Simmons; nieces and nephews Daewon Cary, Crystal Cary, Darrius Williams (Tiffany) and Shanique Williams and a host of cousins and friends.

Our eternal father strong to save is watching over our beloved as we keep him in our hearts.

On Friday, October 24, viewing will take place from 10am-2pm at Shivers Funeral Chapel. A Celebration of Life will follow the viewing at 2pm on Friday, October 24, 2025.  Interment is October 29, 2025 in Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery, 5310 Milners Road, Suffolk, VA 23434. Please keep the Simmons family in your thoughts and prayers.
