Terry Sherrod

February 12, 1976 — July 17, 2024

Terry Jermal Sherrod, born on February 12, 1976, at Obici Hospital, passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends at the same hospital on July 17,2024, at the age of 48. 

Terry was a cherished son, brother, father, and friend whose presence brought joy and warmth to everyone who knew him. 

Terry had a passion for sports and was an avid softball, football, and baseball player. He was a devoted fan of the Washington Commanders and the Los Angeles Lakers, always cheering for his favorite teams with unwavering enthusiasm.

His love for mechanics was evident in his work as an auto mechanic and handyman, where his skill and dedication left a lasting impact on all who benefited from his expertise. He was a proud Noble FreemasonsPHA. He was also a member of the following houses; Blue house/Sons of Solomon #222, Royal Arch Mason/Burning Bush #9, Knights Templar/Knights of Solomon #22, Consistory/Royal Consistory # 8, and Shriner/Sahara Temple #8. He faithfully served as the Lodge Chaplain for the Sons of Solomon, where his commitment to community service and brotherhood was deeply admired.

Terry aka Boo is preceded in death by his Father Nelson Turner; Aunt Regina; Grandmother Ruby Mae Hill; Grandfather Willie Hill (Buddy.) Buddy and Boo are back together once again.

Terry is survived by his loving mother Valerie(Melvin) Perry; brother Tydus (April); nieces, Neariah and Shemara; nephew, Tydus Jr.; Stepmother Mattie Turner and his daughters Arnetrial and Davertra. 

He will be greatly missed by his family, friends and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

On Wednesday, July 24, 2024 Viewing will take place from 3-6pm with a Wake Service from 5-6pm at Shivers Funeral Chapel.  A Celebration of Life Service will be held 12pm on Thursday, July 25, 2024 at Cedar Grove Baptist Church, 17023 Black Creek Rd. Zuni, Va. 23898.  Interment will follow the service at Nansemond-Suffolk Cemetery, 1421 Kings Fork Road, Suffolk, VA 23234.   Please keep the Sherrod, Perry and Jefferson family in your prayers.
