Teresa Croker

Teresa Veora Whitley Croker was born on January 8, 1927 to the late Peter and Blanche Whitley. Our beloved mother departed this life and entered eternal rest on Sunday evening, December 4, 2022, at her home. Teresa was a loving and caring mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She was a person of few words, but if anyone was in need she would open her home.

She was a dedicated and faithful member of Rising Star Baptist Church until her health wouldn't allow her to attend. Teresa worked at Smithfield Packing for over 30 years and retired. She enjoyed her retirement. One thing she loved was her black coffee with a little sugar every day.

Teresa was preceded in death by her son Nelson Croker, Sr. and granddaughter Katrina Wilkerson. She leaves to cherish her memories two affectionate and devoted daughters, Evelyn Brinkley of Smithfield, VA, Phyllis Croker of Newport News, VA and one son, Ronnie Croker, Sr. of Augusta, GA. She also leaves one brother, Thomas Whitley (Mary) of Smithfield, VA. She leaves nine grandchildren, Valerie Artis (Preston), Alphonso Atkins, Nelson Croker, Jr., Bobby Croker (Francena), Shelley Davis (Gregory), Detriech Croker, Cassandra Croker-Fontenot (Perry), Eisha Wells (Corey), Nikita McClenney and Ronnie Croker, Jr. She leaves behind twenty-eight great grandchildren, eleven great great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends and her Rising Star Baptist Church family.

A Celebration of life will be held 1pm Sunday, December 11, 2022 at Shivers Funeral Chapel. Viewing will take place Saturday, December 10, 2022 from 2-5pm also at the chapel.
