Sylvia White Newby

November 30, 1966 — January 13, 2024

Our Dearly Beloved, Sylvia Denise Newby, suddenly left this earthly place to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, January 13, 2024 in Bon Secours Maryview Medical Center.

She was born November 30, 1966 in Surry County, Virginia to Ms. Ruth White and Roosevelt Clary. She was preceded in death by her son, Reginald Newby, Jr., father Roosevelt Clary, grandmother Annie Bell Parham, grandfather William “Bill” Parham, and Uncle Carcelius Parham.

Sylvia accepted Christ at an early age as her Lord and Savior, was baptized, and became a member of Jerusalem Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Douglas Wright.

She attended the Surry County Public Schools. After attending school, she joined the work force and was employed by The Colonial Williamsburg Foundation in the food industry. She attended school and acquired a certificate as a nutritionist. She worked at various jobs as she met and befriended many people with her charismatic ways. She remained in the work force until she became too ill to work.

She had a strong love for Family and friends. She was one who was selfless and willing to give from her heart, to joke with you, get mad with you, then quick to make amends. She was very loving and one that was so fun to be around. To know her is to love her with all your heart, because she loved you the same. She loved the company of her family and friends, especially her mother who was the most special person in her world. She enjoyed cooking for family, especially vegetables, Pig feet, rice pudding, and chicken. She would often call on her sisters, aunts, and cousins to help assist her with cooking for special family events. Still, in her eyes, no one could cook better than she.

Her favorite football team was Washington Commanders. She would often watch T.V with her husband, Reginald and Special cat of many, Furball routing for her team, even though his team is the49ers. She also enjoyed watching her favorite game show, Family Feud during the evening. She would often talk to her family and friends about her salvation and loving the Lord. She knew that God was with her.

She leaves to cherish her memories: Devoted husband, Reginald Newby, mother, Ruth White, brothers, Kenneth Judkins Sr., Gregory Judkins, Sr. (Verlene), Brad Little, Tony Lane, Sisters: Annette Wilson (Alfred), Moncia Wynn (Roy), Special Goddaughter and great niece Shaniyah Haskett, Special Aunts: Carol Ann Butts, Diane Hill, Hazel Pittman, and Beatrice Parham Special Uncles: James Parham and Richard Lee Parham devoted cousins, Carolyn Annette Butts & Keisha Parham, devoted Friends, Mary Young, Edith Walters, Brooke Haskett, Bobby Jean Warren, and a host of other special nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
