Sylvia C. Blizzard

OUR BELOVED MASTERPIECE (A Complete Work of Art) Life Sylvia Clinton Blizzard, affectionately known to her family as Puddin, daughter of the late Dennis L. and Sadie Blow Clinton was born August 8, 1949 in Smithfield, Virginia. On Monday, July 19, 2021 the gates of Heaven opened and welcomed her to eternal rest. She was preceded in death by both parents, her twin sons (Devon & Derek), 2 brothers, Percell and Dennis Clinton. Sylvia leaves to cherish her 2 sisters, Clarice Ashburn of Windsor, VA and Mary Jean Whitley (Thomas) of Smithfield, VA and sister in love, Rosette Clinton and a host of nieces and nephews. She graduated from Smithfield Public Schools and earned an Associate’s Degree from Kee Business College. Later in life, Sylvia attended John Tyler Community College where she graduated Magna Cum Laude. Sylvia retired from Surry County Public School System after 31 dedicated years as Deputy Clerk of the School Board. She was a devoted member of Jerusalem Baptist Church’s Diaconate Board and Usher Board. Sylvia was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt who was passionate about caring for others. Her favorite motto to live by was, do unto others as you would have them do unto you. Love Sylvia loved the LORD and her family as it shined through her sweet spirit. She loved spending quality time with her family and friends and was known for her precious words “GOD LOVES YOU AND I DO TOO”. Anyone who knew Sylvia, knew she had a love for fishing and catching double headers gave her so much joy. Legacy Sylvia leaves to cherish her memories, her husband Calvin “Roosevelt” Blizzard of 51 years. From this union, there were twin sons (deceased), 2 loving daughters, Shelby Williams (Earl) of Surry County, VA and LaToya Blizzard (Glen, Fiancé) of Chesterfield, VA. She also leaves to cherish a stepdaughter, Sylvia Henry of Hampton, VA. Sylvia had 5 grandchildren, Alexis “Lexy”, Ayana “Yanny”, Kaden “Ro-Ro”, Portia and Ashley. Her grandkids were truly her pride and joy! A Drive-up Celebration of Life will be held 1pm Saturday, July 24, 2021 at Jerusalem Baptist Church Surry, VA. Viewing will be held Friday, July 23, 2021 from 4-6pm at Shivers Funeral Chapel. Mrs. Blizzard is in the loving and professional care of Shivers Funeral Chapel.
