When mortal life is over, and God says come to me The only thing that matters, is that with Him I am free God needed me so much more than anyone I know And now my place is in His arms, to Him I had to go Steven Andre Gordon transitioned this life from earth to glory on Sunday, September 6th. at Sentara Obici Hospital in Suffolk, Virginia. He was born on December 30, 1985 in Newark, New Jersey to Melvina V. Gordon and Bernard Brevard. He moved to Virginia in 1985 and resided in Windsor and Suffolk. He was a member of Holly Grove AME Church and attended on a regular basis. Even after moving to Suffolk, from Windsor he would catch a ride with his church father Bro. Edward Herndon, and even as years went by, he would make his way to Holly Grove Church by catching a ride or even walking. Our current Pastor Rev. Marilyn Medley took a special interest in Steven and treated him like a 2nd son. Often times bringing him to church as well as assisting him in every way she could. He was “Man of the Year” at Holly Grove under the pastorship of Rev. Kenneth Ruff. His favorite son was “God will Take Care of You”. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandfather Philip Gordon, Sr. He leaves to mourn his passing his grandmother Rev. Vivian G. Parker, his sister Kristen, his brothers Philip, Chad, Darron and Sean, 1 aunt, 3 great aunts, 2 great uncles, and host of cousins and friends and special friend and mentor Rufus Daren. A Graveside Celebration of Life Service will be held 1:00pm on Sunday, September 12, 2021 at Holly Grove AME Church Cemetery in Windsor, Va.
