Sherman B. Harris

October 17, 1956 — June 7, 2021

Sherman, better known as “Duke” was born on October 17, 1956 to Deacon John A. Harris and the late Dorothy Winnegan Harris.

He graduated from Smithfield High in 1976 and joined the US Army that same year. God saw fit to call him home on Monday June 7,2021 at 10:29PM at the VCU Critical Care Hospital.

Left to cherish his memory are his daughter Candace Major, his son Timel Davis; his Father John A. Harris;
three sisters Linda Goodman -Jones ,Alice Jones, and Pamela Copeland(Wayne); Six brothers John L Harris (Gail), Harry Darden(Sandra), Larry Darden (Eugonda), Gregory Darden (Della), Troy Darden (Frances) and Michael Darden; seven grandchildren Asiah, Kevonte, Jamiyah, Brea, McKinley, Brennan and Logan. A special cousin Hilda T. Wilson, and a host of nieces and nephews and other loving relatives and friends.

A Drive-Up Celebration of Life Service will be held 12pm Wednesday, June 16,2021 at Shivers Funeral Chapel.  Public viewing will take place from 4-6pm on Tuesday, June 15, 2021 at the Chapel. Please Keep the Harris family in your thoughts and prayers.
