Russell Junius Ricks

The Almighty God in His own way and for His own purpose, took unto Himself our beloved, Husband, Father, Uncle, Grandfather, Great Grandfather, Father In-Law, Brother In-Law and Friend.

Russell Junius Ricks, also known as "PaPa", was born on July 2^nd, 1942 in Isle of Wight County, Virginia to the late Odell Virginia Lankford.

Russell retired from Smithfield packing company. Although he didn't have to work, he decided to continue working at Great Wall restaurant to keep him busy. His motto was "Old People get Old Quick". He was an active member of Sweet Haven Holy Church of God where he served as a Deacon, Sunday School Teacher and a member of the Men's Choir. Russell was a very friendly, giving and social person who will be greatly missed.

Treasuring his memory are Annette Ricks (devoted wife of 35 years), 6 children, Brenda Fulton of Richmond VA, Renita Sumblin (Ken) of Leesburg VA, Tara Griffin of Newport News VA, Lee Beamon (Charlene) of Hampton VA, Benjamin Beamon Sr. of Hampton VA, Troy Beamon Sr. of Charlotte NC; 11 grandchildren, LaQuisha Turner, Shawn Fulton, Alex Holley, Benjamin Beamon Jr., Troy Beamon Jr. , NiKayla Beamon, Hakeem Beamon, Lee Beamon Jr, Tyree Beamon, Eriyana Spangler, Kiana Sumblin; 2 Great grandchildren, Samiyah Johnson, Tyrin Johnson, 5 sister-in-law's, 5 brother-in-law's, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and daycare children.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held 1pm Wednesday August 28, 2019 at Sweet Haven Holy Church Of God Carrollton, Va. Viewing will take place Tuesday August 27, 2019 from 4-7pm At Shivers Funeral Chapel. Professional Services entrusted to Shivers Funeral Chapel.
