June 27,2017, at Sentara Leigh Hospital God in his infinite love called home our beloved brother, uncle, cousin, Russell Wendell Johnson. He was born May 8,1959 in Zuni, Va to the late Elder Frank L. Johnson and Sarah P. Johnson. He grew up attending Walnut Grove Baptist Church. He graduated from Windsor High School. He served 8 years honorably in the United States Marine Corps and received a honorable discharge. He also was a hard worker at the Smithfield Packing Plant. You could not find a harder and more dedicated worker than Russell he also had one of the greatest work ethics a person could ever hope to have. After his accident, he resided at Sentara Nursing Center in Norfolk Va. Russell was preceded in death by his parents Elder Frank and Sarah Johnson, two sisters Noami J. Eley and Glenda J. Allen, two brothers Frank Wayne Johnson Sr. and Willie C. Johnson Sr.(WS) . He leaves to cherish his memory three brothers; Dwayne M. Johnson Zuni VA and Raymond W. Johnson(Diana) of Capron VA, Nathan G. Johnson of Suffolk, VA and one sister; Lorraine S. Johnson of Zuni VA and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. A smile for all, a heart of gold. One of the best, this world could hold. Always cheerful, always giving, always kind. These memories he leaves behind. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11am on Thursday, July 6, 2017 at Shivers Funeral Chapel, Smithfield, Va. Viewing will be from 4-7pm on Wednesday, July 5, 2017 at the chapel. Interment will be in the Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans cemetery, Suffolk, Va. Professional services entrusted to Shivers Funeral Chapel.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11am on Thursday, July 6, 2017 at Shivers Funeral Chapel, Smithfield, Va. Viewing will be from 4-7pm on Wednesday, July 5, 2017 at the chapel. Interment will be in the Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans cemetery, Suffolk, Va. Professional services entrusted to Shivers Funeral Chapel.
