Rose Ann Drew Major was called home to the Lord on Thursday, April 15, 2021, at Riverside Hospital. Rose Major was born July 28, 1949 to Sandy Drew Jr. and Mable Drew, who preceded her in death. She also was preceded in death by her daughter, Angela L. Major. Rose graduated from Westside High School in 1968. She married her high school sweetheart Willie H. Major Sr. on July 31, 1970 and had 3 children. After high school, she attended Riverside School of Nursing, graduating as a certified Licensed Practical Nurse. She also took a Pharmacy Tech class at Drug Emporium. While following her passion for nursing, she held jobs such as a nurse for Smithfield Packing, a substitute nurse for Smithfield High School, and ending as a Nurse/ Family Service Advocate for The STOP Organization Head Start for over 17 years. She was a member of Mount Tabor Church of God in Christ. She loved everyone and served faithfully, working in different capacities at the church. After retiring in 2012, he spent her remaining years in the comfort of her family. She enjoyed watching Lifetime and Hallmark movies. She is survived by her husband, Willie H. Major Sr., her son, Willie H. Major Jr., her daughter, Marcia C. Major, her grandchildren Minyara D. Coleman, Aasin R. Major, and Alexis C. Major all of Smithfield, VA. She is also survived by her brother, Samuel R. Drew (Tami), of Smithfield, VA, along with a host of aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews, family, and friends. A Graveside Celebration will be held 11am Thursday, April 22, 2021 at Mt. Tabor COGIC Church Cemetery. Viewing will take place Wednesday, April 21, 2021 from 4-6pm at Shivers Funeral Chapel.
