Jones, Sr. On Wednesday afternoon, October 6, 2021, at Sentara Careplex Hospital, the death angel came and sealed the lips of Raymond T. Jones, Sr. forever. He was born March 16, 1942 in Isle of Wight County. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, and a granddaughter Amiyah Jones. Raymond was educated in the Isle of Wight County system having graduated from Isle of Wight Training School class of 1960. He played on the football and baseball teams. He loved all sports. After graduation, Raymond briefly worked for Gwaltney, Inc in the shipping department before leaving to proudly serve his country in the U.S. Army. He saw conflict in the Dominican Republic. Upon his return to civilian life, Raymond was employed by Newport News Shipbuilding and Drydock Company in Dept. X43. He retired after 42 years of service. Raymond was a caring, loving, and generous individual with his time, talents and resources. He loved the Gospel and Quartet singing. He will be missed by his son Raymond T. Jones, Jr., his daughter Rita Michelle Green, brother Edward Jones (Veronica), granddaughter Kaylan, a devoted friend Mary Green, three nieces Angela Williams (Robert), Patricia Evans, and Melody Jones, nephews Stacey Jones and Timothy Jones, and several other nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends who will miss him and treasure his memory. A Graveside Celebration of Life Service will be held 11am Friday, October 15, 2021 at New Jones Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, Windsor, Va.
