He was born to Herman Colbert and Burnice Colbert (Ward) in Junction City, Kansas on January 08,1973. He attended Junction City High School. Raymond had a love for running and was known for being the fastest runner in his school and the neighborhood. He would go on to graduate in 1992 and enter the United States Army. Ray served 12 years in the Army where he had a successful career as an 88 Mike; driving trucks was his passion. He received many accolades & awards while in the service. One letter of appreciation Raymond received was for his courageous actions while being an assigned driver for the 50th NATO Summit of 1999 held in Washington, DC. Special agent Micheal Chastain described Ray as an “invaluable asset throughout his protective service mission & served with great distinction” later in the letter he continued “Specialist Colbert exemplified the finest attributes of the American soldier.” After his time in the Army, he worked as an independent contractor, driving his truck from near and far delivering goods across the United States. Raymond loved sports, being our Grill Master, and always being informed on the daily events in the world. Raymond was a natural navigator and knew how to get anywhere off the top of his head. Raymond was always devoted to his family. He loved spending time with them wherever he could and always knew how to put a smile on their face. He met Regina Colbert and they married in 2007. They lived together in Toldeo, Ohio before coming back to Hampton, Virginia blending the two families together from his first and second marriage. One of Raymond's greatest accomplishment was being a husband, father, and papa. Raymond loved his wife, children, and granddaughters to the fullest, with them describing Raymond as their superhero.
