Our beloved mother departed this world Thursday, October 13, 2022 at her home in Holly Grove. She is joining her first husband James Monroe White, Jr. and second husband Jesus Adel Santiago and brother Roy Goodman in Heaven. Ollie Mae was born Ollie Mae Pittman December 31, 1942 in Enfield, North Carolina. She married her first love James Monroe White, Jr. at the young age of seventeen. She later married her second love Jesus Adel Santiago at the age of forty-five. She moved to Virginia in 1989 and reunited with her sisters-in-law Lucy Gray Uzzle and the late Mattie Uzzle. She became a member of Holy Grove Church in the year 2000. Ollie was a woman of God, a woman who would give the shirt off her back to anyone. Ollie was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend to many. Ollie Mae was a woman who opened up her home, heart, and kitchen to so many people and showed them love and kindness when they needed it. Everybody who met her loved her, she was everybody’s grandma by default. Ollie Mae leaves to mourn her mother Edith Goodman, two sisters Wilhemenia Patrick (Alphonso) and Brenda Chapman (Willie); one brother Don Goodman (Rosie); three step-brothers Raymond Hammiel, Richard Hammiel (Carolyn) and Eugene Hammiel and six step-sisters Fannie Bell (deceased), Doretha Williams (Jesse, deceased), Ethel Powell, Lucille Clayton (Ralph), Joyce Hammiel and Geraldine Hedgepeth (Donnell); seven children Anita White-Hall (Anthony), James Monroe White III, Gina White, Terri White-Coombs (Clifford), Lisa Simmons (Lamont), Kent (Seon) White and Kenya Santiago (Dikea); adopted children Anthony (Ajay) Santiago, Wynter Santiago, Essence Scott (Ronnie) and Cheval Allmond; thirty grandchildren Julio, Dominick, Iesha, Terrell, Dyshan, Rashawn, Chamiek, Anthony (Tony), Courtney, Malissa, Tasean, Tyleek, Roshona, Shaquan, Jonelle, Chasity, Aaron, Jonathan, Donte, Kendra, Brooklyn, Morgan, Makenzie, Jayla, Isaiah, Shayla, Aubriyella, Hudson, Summer and Chase; nineteen great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, family, friends and loved ones. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11:00am on Thursday, October 20, 2022 at Shivers Funeral Chapel. Viewing will take place from 3-6pm on Wednesday, October 19, 2022 at the chapel.
