Nelson Edward Hoskin

Nelson Edward Haskins 76, was born in Smithfield, VA and resided in Baltimore, MD.

Nelson went home to be with the Lord on Monday, February 13, 2023 at his residence in Windsor, VA. Nelson was the firstborn of fourteen children. He was born on November 27, 2023 to the late James and Iola Hoskins Brumskin (biological father, Morris Lewis). Siblings that preceded him in death are Andrew Brumskin, George Victor Brumskin, Dorothy Brumskin Newsome, Jerome Brumskin, Josephine Brumskin, and James Brumskin, Jr.

Nelson is a proud veteran of the United States Marines. He served in the Marines from 1971-1975. Nelson was a Corporal in the Marines. He was educated in the Isle of Wight County School and moved to Baltimore, Maryland. Nelson loved chocolates cake and sweet potato jacks. He was a fan of the Baltimore Ravens. He also loved to play spades with family and friends. He was a good brother to his siblings. He was a good father to his son, grandson and great grands. His favorite song is “O Happy Day”. He also had the sweetest laughter. He leaves behind son, Shawn (Yokea) O’Neal, grandchildren and great children: Dashawn,, Karrih and Lorenzo O’Neal,, Shawn, Jr., Yakerra, Terrell and Trinity McLeaurin, Myann Smith (tony), Jovan Hendricks and Maquita Kenny, Khalil Hendricks and Paxton Kennedy, Mary Pendleton (Ukato) Tiarra Lee, Rafael Rosada and Kelly Pendleton.

He is also survived by his siblings, Barbara Davis of Richmond, VA, Butch Lewis of Baltimore ,MD, Margaret Jones of Salisbury, MD, Mary Fields, Iola Brumskin, John Brumskin and Lionel Brumskin of Smithfield, VA ; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11am Friday, February 24, 2023 at Shivers Funeral Chapel. Viewing will take place Thursday, February 23, 2023 from 3-6pm also at the Chapel. Internment will follow at 1:00 PM at Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery Suffolk, VA.
