Nellie M. King

April 26, 1938 — July 31, 2019

On Wednesday, July 31, 2019, our beloved mother, sister, aunt and friend transitioned to eternal rest surrounded by her children. Nellie Mae was born on April 26, 1938 to the late Samuel & Louvenia Judkins. Nellie was the third child born to that union. She was preceded in death by three siblings; two brothers Samuel Judkins, Jr. (Barch) and Robert Henry Judkins; one sister Margaret Ree Greene and her husband Bobbie Lee King. At an early age, Nellie started working at Smithfield Packing where she met and married Bobbie Lee King, her best friend and the love of her life. Nellie was a dedicated mother first and foremost. She treasured her children and embraced every moment with them. She had a vivacious personality and always had a kind word to say. After working at the plant for many years, Nellie became a foster parent for Newport News Social Services. She also worked for the S.T.O.P. Organization, QVC, Isle of Wight County Schools, and Isle of Wight County. She was a former member of Hill Street C.O.G.I.C. She later moved her membership to Cathedral of Life United Holiness Church of Life where she served as a faithful member until her health began to fail. She leaves to cherish her memories 8 children, Saleisha, Cynthia, Denita, Carolyn (Jullian), Shontelle (Kashif), Michael, Bobbie and Robert; one sister Mary Mason; one sister in law Evangeline Judkins; special and devoted niece Zelma Greene; longtime special child Raymond Clary; devoted nephew from New York who remained faithful by her side throughout her illness Evangelist Wesley King, Jr.; sixteen grandchildren; special friend Annette Goodman; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
