Deacon Morris G. Hall, Sr. answered the Master's call and went home to be with his heavenly father on Thursday, June 01, 2023 at his residence.
Morris G. Hall, Sr, was born on July 13, 1947, to the late July 13, 1947 to the late James A. Hall, Sr. and Annie B. Hall in Isle of Wight County, Virgina, the second of 7 children. He attended school in Smithfield and graduated from Westside in 1965. On April 12, 1969, he married the love of his life Andria Blount.
Morris joined Emmanuel Baptist Church in Smithfield, VA where he attended Sunday School and Bible Study. He also served as Chaiman of the Deacon Ministry, Chairman of the Building Committee, President of the Deacon and Deaconesses Ministry and Vice -President of the Senior Choir. Morris was also a member of the Mass Chor and Hospitality Committee and was an active member until his untimely passing.
On September 13, 19065 Morris was hired by Newport News Shipbuilding in the Radiological Department (RADCON) and transferred in 1966 to the Atomic Power Division-Quality Inspection Department. He retired from the Shipyard September 14, 2102 after 47 years and 1 day of service. He was a very avid reader and enjoyed various outdoor activities. He was also known by a select group of close friends as the “Peanut Man”.
Morris was preceded in death by both of his parents, a younger brother Michael and his only daughter Stephanie.
He loves to cherish his memory his wife; Andria, son Morris Hall, Jr. (Moe); 3 sisters, Jolene Parker, Margaret Wingo, and Cathy Hall, all of Smithfield, VA; 3 brothers, William Hall (Joyce) of Toano, VA, Tracey Hall (Beverly) of Stafford, VA and James Hall, Jr. (Crystal) of Smithfield, VA, 4 grandchildren, NiAirelle Hall of Newport News, VA, Arieon Robinson of Chesapeake, VA, Denise Hall of Las Vegas, Nevada and Brandon Hall also of Las Vegas, Nevada; and 1 greatgrandchild, Kyair Martin of Newport News, VA along with a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11am Wednesday, June 07, 2023 at Emmanuel Baptist Church Smithfield, VA. Viewing will take place Tuesday, June 06, 2023 from 3-6pm at Shivers Funeral Chapel. Please keep the Hall family in your thoughts and prayers.
