Mitchell Lee Rogers

Mitchell Lee Rogers, 85, of Smithfield, Virginia, peacefully entered eternal rest on Saturday, December, December 13, 2025, at this home,  surrounded by loved ones.

He was born on October 26, 1940 , in Clarksville, Virginia to the late Joseph and Berthena Rogers. Mitchell was a man of quiet strength, integrity and kindness, whose life reflected a deep commitment to family, hard work and service to others.

Mitchell dedicated 41 years of faithful service to the Newport new Department of Public Works- Wastewater Division. He took great pride in his work and was respected by coworkers for his reliability and strong work ethic.

In 1979, Mitchell met Bessie barrow the love of his life. They were married on November 24, 1980 and shared 37 loving years together until her passing in 2017. Although they had no children of their own, Mitchell and Bessie helped raise many nieces and nephews, leaving a lasting impact on their lives. Mitchell found joy in life’s simple moments and was always willing to lend a helping hand.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Berthena Rogers; his wife Bessie Rogers and his six siblings.

Mitchell will be remembered for his gentle spirit, generosity and Kindness. His memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11am on Saturday, December 27, 2025 at Emmanuel Chapel Church of Christ Holiness, 200 Hampton Rds. Ave. Hampton, VA. Viewing will take place one hour prior to the service at 10am. The interment will follow the service in Hampton Memorial Gardens, 155 Butler Farm Road, Hampton, VA 23666.Please keep the Rogers family in your prayers
