Maurice Duck

Maurice “Bud” Duck, was born on December 15, 1957 in Isle of Wight County, to the late Beatrice Duck Parham. The Lord called him home to eternity on June 18, 2023. He was affectionately known as “Bud” and will always be remembered as a loyal father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend.

Bud was the life of the party and the comedian of the family until his final hours. He gave everyone a nickname, whether you knew it or not. The cherished memories and laughs he left behind will remain forever in our hearts.

He worked as a forklift driver at Gwaltney’s, now known as Smithfield Foods for over 30 years. He was a loyal and faithful worker and never missed a day in 30 years.

He is preceded in death by his mother Beatrice Parham and beloved daughter Bernice Shameka Bradshaw Smith.

He leaves to cherish his memories two sisters Colia L. Daughtery and Alfredia Duck Neal (Tony); one brother, Linwood A. Parham “Pooh Pooh”; a son-in-law, Thomas Smith, Sr. six grandchildren; Thomas Smith, Jr, Tobias Smith, DeVron Smith, Remy Smith, Yesterday Smith, Dashawn Smith; one great grandchild, Kayden Smith; two nieces, Tiffany C. Duck and Kadisha D. Dempsey (Wayne); two great nieces, Tremel Duck and Journii Dempsey; one aunt, Betty Ashburn (Heywood) and one uncle, Samuel Duck (Lois); special friends Vergie Williams, LaVern Smith, Curtis “Zack” Burrell, Alden “AT” Cary, Floyd Davis, Gregory Tyrell Ashburn and a host of loyal cousins and friends.

Services will be private. Please keep the Duck Family in your thoughts and prayers.
