Mary T. Wilson

June 7, 1931 — October 2, 2021

Mary Ellen Wilson Tynes was born on June 7, 1931 to James Tynes and Fannie Edwards Tynes. Our beloved Mary peacefully departed this life and entered eternal rest on Saturday, October 2, 2021 at her home. Mary was a loving and devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, confident and friend. But most of all she was saved and sanctified by the only true and living God. She was educated in Isle of County Training School. Her professional career was dedicated to nursing. Mary was a childhood member of Sandy Mount Baptist Church; she was led to Mount Tabor Church of God in Christ for over thirty-five years and then God led her back to Sandy Mount. Mary Ellen was preceded in death by her parents, James and Fannie Tynes, her devoted husband, Birden Ham Wilson, parents in law, Samuel and Nannie Wilson. She was also preceded in death by three brothers; Plummie Tynes, (Virgie), David Tynes, (Ruth), and Junius Tynes; two sisters, Inez T. Butler, (Peter) and Frances Green, (Theodore). Mary’s nephews, David M. Butler and Andrew L. Tynes and son-in law, Herbin L. Gray preceded her. Brothers in law were who preceded were Erris Wilson, (Ruth), Herbert Wilson, (Lillie), Joseph Wilson, Rev. Warner Wilson, (Marion), Rev. George Johnson and Onray Savage. Sisters in law preceding her were Helen W. Blount, (Walter), Katie W. Edwards, (Herman), Mary Wilson, Martha Strand, (Alfred), Lillian Wilson. She leaves to cherish her memory her stepson, Burton Wilson Parker, (Vivian), daughters, Joan W. Gray, Mary Elizabeth Clarke, (Steven), Carolyn Butler Hill, (James), son, Eric L. Wilson, special nieces, Doris Butler Holloman, Delois M. Butler, daughter in law, Pamela Garner Wilson. Grandchildren: Kevin D. Gray, (Markesha), Kayla L. Wilson and great grandson, Kameron Dream Wilson Gray. Her sister, Eunice Tynes Briley, sisters in law, Margarite Tynes, Elizabeth Wilson Savage, Lucy Wilson Butler, (Willie) and Rev. Marion Jean Wilson Johnson, brother in law, Joshua Wilson, (Lillian). She leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends and her Sandy Mount Baptist Church Family. Her smile, kindness and loving spirit is greatly missed by all who know her. She truly believed she would someday wear a crown, but first she had to put on a robe and tell the story of how she made it over. She willingly, happily gave that old building over to God. She always said, “I got someplace to go”. Drive-up Celebration of Life will be held 11am Friday, October 8, 2021 at Shivers Funeral Chapel. Viewing will take place Thursday, October 7, 2021 from 4-6pm also at the chapel. Please keep the Wilson family in your thoughts and prayers View Memorial Video
