Mary Jean Scott

Mary Jean Goodwin Scott transitioned from this life on Friday, January 15, 2021. Mary Jean Goodwin Scott was born on May 25, 1940 to the late Dean and Pearl Jones Goodwin. At an early age, Mary Jean was baptized and joined Christian Home Baptist Church. Mary Jean was an active member at CHBC and offered her knowledge with the Homework Assistance Program (HAP), served as an usher, a missionary and helped coordinate the Christmas exchange sponsored by the CHBC Sunday School. Mary Jean worked at Rich's Grocery Store and she was known as the "Hat Lady". She had a very keen sense of fashion and loved clothes, hats and shoes. Mary Jean married the late John Wesley Scott. In addition to her parents and husband, Mary Jean was preceded in death by her daughter, Rhonda Goodwin; sisters, Irene Jones, Virginia Jones, Queen Arline, Margaret Goodwin; brothers, George Dean Goodwin, Curtis Goodwin, Edward Goodwin, Andrew Goodwin and Spincil Goodwin. Mary Jean leaves behind her children, Andre and Adrian Scott; sister, Darlene Spratley, a grandson Ziad and many stepchildren to cherish her memory. Viewing will be held Wednesday, January 20, 2021 from 4-6pm at Shivers Funeral Chapel. Also final rites will be held from 4-4:30pm.
