Mary Leatha Holloway

July 15, 1932 — December 4, 2014

Missionary Mary Leatha Holloway was called home by her Lord and Savior on Thursday, December 4, 2014. Mary was born on July 15, 1932 to Charlie and Mammie Vaughan in Isle of Wight County, VA. She was preceded in death by her parents, and siblings Geneva Smith, Charlie Vaughn Jr., Thelma Jones, Pearl Hite and daughter-in-law Reahtori Holloway.

On November 18, 1950, she was joined in holy matrimony with Joseph L. Holloway, Sr. and from this union were born three children. In 1956Mary and Joseph left Suffolk, VA and moved to Nyack, NY. After25 years in Nyack, Mary and Joseph returned to their beloved Suffolk, June 20, 1980. She was an active member of Sweet Haven Holy Church of God, Carrollton, VA for more than 32 years. She served as a missionary, senior choir member, prayer warrior, and on the Hospitality Committee. Mary is survived by her loyal and dedicated husband of 64 years, Chairman Emeritus of the Deacon Board, Joseph L. Holloway; sisters Mildred Givens, Pomona, NY and Christine Tynes, Spring Valley, NY; daughters Gloria A. Strickland (Anthony), Burlington, NC and Denise Richardson, Atlanta, GA; son, Joseph L. Holloway Jr., Carrollton, VA; four grandchildren Shanae Holley (Willis), Carrollton, VA, Kristy Holloway, Hampton, VA, Joseph A. Holloway, Carrollton, VA and Dean Richardson; four great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A Celebration of life Service will be held 1:00pm Tuesday, December 09, 2014 at Sweet Haven Holy Christ of Christ. Viewing will be held on Monday Dec. 08, 2014 from 4-7pm with the family receiving friends from 6-7pm. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Psalms 100:4,5 Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise; be thankful unto him, and bless his name, for the LORD is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endures to all generations.
