Marvin Fisher

Marvin Clarke Fisher entered into eternal rest and peace on January 1O, 2026 in Concord, North Carolina.

Marvin was born in Isle Of County VA on May 2,1935 to the late Richard Ciarke, Sr and Allie Newby Clarke. She received education in Isle Wight Public Schools.

Marvin joined Mt. Sinai Baptist Church at an early and was a faithful member until her health began to fall. She was a member of the Senior and 2nd Senior Choirs. Marvin loved to sing and she would often make her own songs from what God had placed her heart. She was also a member of the Missionary Ministry, always serving with her beautiful smile and could be counted on to do she was asked. Marvin had a love for Sunday School and Bible Study, often attending with her husband.

Marvin also had a love for people and especially family- always helping any way she could. She and her husband always had their doors open for the family. That's the life she lived.

Marvin was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Brother Decatur Fisher; one son Jame A. Fisher: three brothers: Richard Jr., and George Clarke; five sisters: Uteria Hardy. Annie Holloway, Mary Lyttle. Edith Wilson and Violet Savedge.

She leaves to cherish her memory one devoted daughter Lavern (Stanley) Stokes Smithfield, VA: one devoted granddaughter, Dr. Candice Stokes, Concord, NC: one grandson Telvin Ricks of Hampton, VA; great-grandchildren Lazya Johnson, Deontae Edwards and Deontre Edwards of Concord. NC: one sister Alma Hill of Surry, VA three sister-in laws: Louise Fisher Haskins (James) of Ivor, VA; Dorothy Clarke of Wakefield, VA and Thelma Clarke of Smithfield, VA, and a host of nieces, nephews. cousins and friends.

On Wednesday, January 14, 2026, viewing will take place from 4-6pm at Shivers Funeral Chapel, 12749 Courthouse Highway, Smithfield, VA 23430. At 12pm on Thursday, January 15, 2026, a Celebration of Life will be held at Mt. Sinai Baptist Church, 14165 Racetrack Road, Ivor VA, 23866. The interment will follow the service in Mt Sinai Cemetery. Please keep the Clarke and Fisher family in your thoughts and prayers.
