On January 16, 2022. Margery Ruth WIlliams, our dear beloved Mother, affectionately known by some as “Mother Williams” finished her works here on this earth and entered into the rest of the Lord. Margery Ruth Parham Williams was born on April 13, 1928 in Surry County, VA to the late John and Josphine Parham. She was a humble person with a kind and gentle spirit. She was the heartbeat of the family and the pulse of our souls. Mom was a gifted homemaker and touched others with those good meals that everyone loved. Taking care of her family was her pride and joy. She was a giving person and loved seeing other people happy. Her hobbies were gardening and fishing. Margery was baptized as one of Jehovah Witnesses in 1974, and she remained a faithful member of the Kingdom Hall of the Jehovah Witnesses of Smithfield, VA. Margery was predeceased in death by her husband Curtis Williams, affectionately known as ”C.W”, her parents John and Josephine Parham, her sister, Ida Mae Williams and her brother, Stanley Wooden. She is survived by her five children: Mildred L. Pretlow of Smithfield, VA; Melvin L.Williams (Rondal) of Newport News, VA; Margery Lorraine Davis(Steven)of Portsmouth, VA ; Milton L. Williams (Angela) of Ahoskie, NC; and Marvin L.Williams (Jackie) of Smithfield, VA; Grandchildren: George Pretlow, Jr.(Jo Ann) of Smithfield, VA ; Veronica Cutler (Morris)of Windsor, VA; Carlton Lamont Pretlow- “CL”of Portsmouth, VA; Elisha Shilice Chapman of Smithfield, VA; Nykeeya Stewart( Winston) of Portsmouth,VA; Ryan Hatten of Portsmouth, VA; Katina Watford of Rocky Mount, NC; Darryl L. Pretlow of Smithfield,VA ; LaRon Williams(Selita)of Newport News, VA;Jessica McGlothen (Roosevelt) of Homewood, Ill; Jasmine Branch(Alonzo) of Grove Town, GA; Ashley Williams of Springfield, VA; and Kristien Teel of Ahoskie, NC;. She is predeceased in death by two grandchildren: Bryant Pretlow and Tiffanie Williams. She also leaves 27 great-grandchildren and 12 great, great grandchildren, as well as, a host of nieces and nephews, whom she cherished and loved dearly. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 12pm Monday, January 24, 2022 at Shivers Funeral Chapel BY INVITATION ONLY. Viewing will take place Sunday, January 23, 2022 from 2-4pm also at the Chapel.
