The Life of Luvenia Eley Winnegan

Luvenia Dianna Eley Winnegan was born on July 25, 1961, to her mother Margaret Elizabeth Eley and her father, the late Milton Patrick Eley.

Luvenia Eley Winnegan transitioned from this life on Saturday, June 13, 2026 in Smithfield, Va .

Luvenia's first job was at our very own Tastee Freeze here in Smithfield. She then went on to work at Hardee’s in Smithfield for six years. Luvenia's last place of employment was Smithfield Foods which she was there for almost thirty years. She retired from Smithfield Foods.

Luvenia (Moe) was a hard-working woman that had strong faith and loved her family. Luvenia (Moe) loved working in her yard and especially Christmas when it came time to put up her Christmas lights. Those lights caused her much grief, but she loved it. Christmas was her favorite holiday.

She also loved fried chicken. She would eat chicken every day of the week if she could. She would often say sometimes, I am going to grow wings and fly soon if I eat another piece of chicken.

The highlight of her life was the birth of her grandson Thomas. She loved this boy with all her soul. Luvenia didn't have a lot of friends but if you had the privilege to be one just know she loved you.

Luvenia leaves to cherish her memory her one and only love and best friend of 51 years her husband Thomas Winnegan better known as Tommy; her daughter Tammie Shawnna Eley and her awesome grandson Thomas Patrick Eley-Banks which you all know was a part of her soul and her devoted mother Margaret Elizabeth Eley.

My mom is gone but she will never be forgotten.

A Graveside Service will be held 11am Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at Mt. Sinai Baptist Church Cemetery. There will be no public viewing. Please keep the Eley and Winnegan family in your prayers.
