Linwood Turner, Jr.

Linwood Turner Jr. AKA “Pete Man” was born December 22, 1955, in Southampton County VA to the late Linwood and Gracie Turner. He was the youngest boy out of 8 siblings. On January 19, 2023, Linwood departed peacefully in Riverside Regional Medical Center.  

Linwood attended Southampton County public schools where he graduated from Southampton High school in 1975. He was a faithful committed fan of the Washington Redskins now known as the Washington Commanders. He also served as a veteran for 11yrs in the U.S. Army and worked at Ft Belvoir, VA. in the Communications Department where after 24 years he retired. Linwood loved the Lord and faithfully devoted his time to serving as a Deacon at Restoration Christian Church. Linwood Turner Jr. was wonderfully loved by his nephews, nieces, cousins, aunts, and uncles. Linwood had a special love for his dog “Duncan” He was preceded in death by his brother Christopher (1WW) Turner.

He leaves with fond memories his seven sisters Linda Brown (Richard) Wakefield, VA, Willie Mae Wilson Clinton MD, Gracie Warren Arlington, VA, Carolyn Turner Dumfries, VA, Louise Faulk (Raymond) Ivor, VA, Lenise Turner, Franklin, VA and Patricia Artis (Kenneth) Franklin, VA, brother John (Gloria) Turner Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina; aunt Shirley Taylor (James) Suffolk VA, and sister-In-Law Bernice Turner, Wakefield, VA. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and friends and Bonus family of Erroll Glee and family of Hampton, VA, along with God's Daughter Donna Brawner.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held 12pm Saturday, January 28, 2023 at New Hope Baptist Church, 1315 Rosewood Avenue, Franklin, VA. 23851. Pastor Anthony L. Goodwyn, Sr. will give the eulogy. The interment will follow in Southview Cemetery 409 Morton Street, Franklin VA 23851. Viewing will take place on Friday, January 27, 2023 from 3-6pm at the Chapel.
