Linda Diann Green

Linda Diann Green, born Tuesday, September 5, 1950, in Isle of Wight County, peacefully transitioned on Sunday, July 26, 2026, at Riverside Smithfield Hospital, surrounded by the love of her family. She was a woman of deep faith, a gentle spirit, and a heart full of kindness. To know Diann was to love her, and she was deeply cherished by her family, friends, church family, and all who were blessed to share in her life.

She was the beloved daughter of the late Eunice Juanita Parker Green and Joseph Arthur Peter Green. Raised with strong family values, Diann carried those values throughout her life, remaining a devoted, dependable, and supportive presence for those around her. Guided by faith, kindness, and warmth, she expressed love in countless ways and had a special gift for making others feel valued, welcomed, and cared for.

Her Life and Passions

A true source of joy to those around her, Diann found delight in the simple and meaningful pleasures of life. She loved baseball, fishing, gardening, beautifying her yard, vibrant colors, Christmas, and the thoughtful art of gift wrapping. She especially enjoyed Christmas shopping for her brothers, choosing gifts with love and care. A gifted cook, she will be fondly remembered for her delicious sweet potato jacks and rolls, as well as the beautiful flower beds she lovingly tended. Whether caring for her family, preparing a meal, decorating her home, or shopping at her favorite store, Walmart, Diann brought warmth, thoughtfulness, and a welcoming spirit to everything she did.

Work, Education, and Faithful Service

Diann attended Westside High School in Smithfield, Virginia, and later became a licensed cosmetologist. Throughout her life, she also worked at Smithfield Packing and served as a Personal Care Assistant, offering dependable care and support to others. At an early age, she accepted Christ and joined Mt. Tabor Church of God in Christ; she later became a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church, where she faithfully served in the hospitality ministry. Known for her practical nature and willingness to help, Diann was also an “outside handywoman” who, even as a child, enjoyed lending a hand to her father in the yard and while working on cars.

Family Legacy

Diann was a loving and devoted mother to her two children, Corey Green and Renita Green, whom she cherished deeply.

She was also a proud and devoted grandmother to five grandchildren: Keshuad Green, Joseph Green, A’Naya Green, Amani Green, and JaKhori Green. Her great-granddaughter, Raelynn Green, held a special place in her heart and was lovingly known as the apple of her eye and one of her greatest treasures.

Diann was preceded in death by her brother, Joseph “Jack” Greene. She leaves to cherish her memory her two sisters, Jolene Parker and Eunice “Inez” Denson; and her two brothers, William Lee Green (Cathy) and Larry Green (Rhonda “Sheryl”), along with many loved ones whose lives were touched by her kindness, faith, and unwavering love.

She also leaves to cherish her memory her devoted special friend of many years, Clint Johnson, whose presence and companionship were a meaningful part of her life.

Diann held a special place in her heart for her nieces and nephews, many of whom she helped raise with patience, devotion, and care. She leaves cherished memories with 17 nieces and nephews, three of whom preceded her in death; 32 great-nieces and nephews; and 33 great-great-nieces and nephews. Her love extended far beyond her immediate family. Also left to treasure her memory are her honorary daughter, Kamisha Batten; honorary son, Rachaun Tatum (Stacey); god sister, Phyllis Blount; and a host of family and friends.

Remembered With Love

Diann will be lovingly remembered by a host of family and friends as a woman who welcomed others with faith, warmth, and genuine hospitality. She carried herself with quiet strength through life’s difficult moments and found joy in the everyday blessings that surrounded her. Even when she may have needed care herself, Diann rarely complained; instead, she continued to put the needs of others before her own, never wanting her family to worry.

Diann lived a life marked by love, service, faith, and selflessness. She gave freely of her heart, cared deeply for her family, and left a lasting imprint on everyone blessed to know her. Though her presence will be deeply missed, her love, laughter, kindness, and unwavering spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of all who called her family and all who loved her dearly.

On Friday, July 31, 2026 viewing will take place from 4-7pm at Emmanuel Baptist Church, 11150 Emmanuel Church Road, Smithfield, VA23430. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 12pm on Saturday, August 01, 2026 at the church. Interment will follow in Emmanuel Baptist Church Cemetery. Please keep the Green family in your prayers
