“The Lord is my Shepherd I shall not want…” Psalm 23 On Sunday, April 4, 2021 God saw our mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend Lillie Scott Wellons was getting tired, so he wrapped his loving arms around her and whispered, “Come to Me”. Our matriarch’s job was done, and we know our heavenly Father does not make any mistakes. Lillie Scott Wellons was born on May 7, 1942 to the late Joseph Scoot and Lovenia Diggs Scott in Nansemond County. She later moved to Suffolk, VA on a farm. Lillie was a devoted employee of Charles and Lynn Rose from January 1979 until she retired. Lillie had a special touch and a devotion for children and the children loved Lillie. She accepted Christ at a young age and joined Christian Home Baptist Church in Windsor, VA. She attended Christian Home Baptist Church faithfully until the Pandemic and the building was closed. Lillie was preceded in death by her husband William Wellons, Sr, her son William Wellons, Jr. 8 sisters, Ida Mann, Ada Mayo, Bernice Hill, Kay Pittman, Cecil Pittman, Erma Scott, Josephine Bradley and Daisy Mann:4 brothers, Lindwood, Leroy, Joe Henry and John Scott. She leaves to cherish her memories, 3 loving daughters Alma Jones (Edward) Smithfield, VA Javonda Wellons (Leroy) Holland, VA and Angela Hayes (George) Franklin, VA. 16 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and 9 great-great grandchildren; 3 sisters; Alman Wooten, Baltimore, MD, Pearline Fulgham, Suffolk, VA, and Mary Rice, Richmond, VA; 3 brothers, James Scott (Patricia) Baltimore, MD, William Scott (Brenda), Newport News, VA. She also has 4 godchildren: Mary Ann Piker, Surry, VAQ, Sharon Hicks, Suffolk, VA, Evelyn Johnson, Smithfield, VA and Clarence Fulgham, Suffolk, VA. She leaves a family that she was dearly devoted to Annette Campbell and her children, her niece Chiquita Smith was close to her. Landora Lemon was there to lend her a helping hand. A host of nephews, cousins and friends will truly miss her. A Drive-in Celebration of Life will be held 11am Saturday, April 10, 2021 at Christian Home Baptist Church Windsor, VA. Viewing will take place Friday, April 9, 2021 from 4-6pm at Shivers Funeral Chapel. Mrs. Wellons is in the loving and professional care of Shivers Funeral Chapel.
