In Loving Memory of Larry Darnell "Bunky" Green

August 1, 1960 - November 12, 2025

Larry Darnell "Bunky" Green, 65, of Smithfield, Virginia, peacefully entered eternal rest on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, at Riverside Regional Medical Center. surrounded by loved ones. Born on August 1, 1960, to the late Willam Andrew and Lula Mae Green, Bunky lived a life filled with generosity, faith, and love for his family and community.

A self-taught mechanic with more than 40 years of experience, Bunky could fix just about anything with wheels and a motor. His dedication and skill made him a trusted name at Dave's Service Center, where he worked faithfully for many years. Beyond his mechanical talent, Bunky was known for his giving heart — always willing to lend a hand, offer advice, or share a laugh.

Bunky was preceded in death by his parents, William Andrew Green and Lula Mae Green; his sisters, Frances Green and Lois Bailey; and his brothers, William Andrew Green Jr. and Willie "Mosey" Green.

He leaves to cherish his memory sisters Mary Green of Newport News, Virginia, and Catherine Rawlings (Gregory) of Smithfield, Virginia; his brother Lewis Green of Smithfield, Virginia; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. Among those friends, Victor Diggs and Melvin Raines stood by him as partners he could always rely on in times of need. Their bond was a testament to the strength of true friendship. Among the many who loved him, his nephew Darrell "Ben" Green shared a unique and deeply special bond with his Uncle Bunky over the past several years.

It's been a tough journey, one that we've navigated together in both the good times and the challenging ones. You fought a good fight, and you ran a race well lived. Your strength, kindness, and unwavering spirit have left a lasting mark on all of us.

Rest easy, Uncle Bunky. We'll carry your memories with us until we meet again.

On Thursday, November 20, 2025, viewing will take place from 3-6pm at Shivers Funeral Chapel. At 11am on Friday, November 21, 2025, a Celebration of Life will also be held at the Chapel. Please keep the Green family in your thoughts and prayers.
