LaRosa Louise Nichols Thomas "I have fought a good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for this appearing." 2 Timothy 4:7-8. LaRosa Louise Nichols Thomas departed this life to claim her eternal rest on May 30, 2019. She was born June 14, 1953 to the late Arthur B. Nichols, Sr. and Adell Nichols. LaRosa was fun loving and loved her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and family very much. She loved watching the westerns and action movies. She also loved going to church and gardening. One of her favorite things to do was watching and feeding the hummingbirds. LaRosa graduated from Southampton High School with the Class of 1971 where she was a member of the school choir. After taking care of her mom through her sickness, LaRosa became interested in Health Care. She was employed by Care Advantage, Family Care and the Health Department. LaRosa was a faithful member of Ebenezer Baptist Church in Ivor, Virginia where she was involved with the Women's Ministry. She was preceded in death by her parents Arthur & Adell Nichols, one brother Stanley Nichols, two sisters, Lillian Pemberton and Rosa Heyward, and one granddaughter, Paris Johnson. LaRosa's memory will live forever in the hearts of her 3 children, Tishon Thomas Artis (Anthony) Wakefield, Virginia, Elijah Thomas (Tonya) Wakefield, Virginia, and Kayla Smith Pretlow (Eric) Suffolk, Virginia; 5 grandchildren, Sharod, Elijah, Khalil, Macyah, Sanii and 4 great grandchildren, Paris, Russian, Kalani and Ka'mari. Also cherishing her memory are 4 sisters, Diana Walker,Portsmouth, Virginia, Barbara Nichols, Washington, D.C., Iris Holland (Sherman), Portsmouth, Virginia, Carolyn Hines (Derrick) Washington, D.C. and 3 brothers, William Nichols (Linda) Portsmouth, Virginia, Arthur Nichols, Jr. (Valerie) Windsor, Virginia, Timmy Nichols (Keva) Cummings, Georgia and 2 aunts Louise Cargill (James) Smithfield, Virginia and Lula Nichols, Sedley, Virginia; 1 special friend, Phyllis Wellons, Philadelphia, PA and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held 12 PM Wednesday, June 5, 2019 at Ebenezer Baptist Church 10686 Ivor Road, Ivor, VA. Viewing Tuesday June, 4, 2019 from 4-7 PM at the Chapel. Services entrusted to Shivers Funeral Chapel.
