Jimmie Mae Lewis Short, 62, transitioned from this life on June 17, 2021 at Sentara Obici Hospital. Jimmie was a loving caring and dedicated woman. She gave all that she could give and never asked for anything in return. She was a loving daughter, a wonderful mother and dedicated wife. Jimmie loved her family and friends more than words can every say. She was a true, kind soul who demonstrated that love through caring and giving to all who she met. She enjoyed and loved fishing more than anything else. Jimmie was employed as the Floral manager at Kroeger in Smithfield, VA. She would always greet customers with a hello and how are you, whether she was outside displaying plants or inside where her beautiful designs were displayed. She had a natural gift for arranging and display. Jimmie Mae Short is survived by her husband Melvin Short, her children; Timmika McKelver and her spouse Karen, Deshawn Mccloyn and his spouse, Coretta; Melody and MJ Short. Her living siblings; Willie Daniels and her spouse Lizzie Parker, Freddie Joe Lewis and Doris Daniels. Six grandchildren: Xavier Harold, Emoni Collins, Orion James, Anaya James, Jaiden Mccloyn, best friend David Mccloyn and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family and friends. Jimmie Mae Short will be truly missed now and forever. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 12pm on Monday, June 28, 2021 at Shivers Funeral Chapel BY INVITATION ONLY. Limited attendance will be strictly adhered to and required. Public viewing will take place one hour prior to the Service. Please Keep the Lewis-Short family in your thoughts and prayers.
