DEVOTED, LOVING, KIND

James Lloyd Spratley Jr., entered eternal rest with his Lord and Savior, Saturday, February 10, 2024, while a patient at Riverside Regional Medical Center in Newport News, Virginia. James, also known as “Jake” was born on May 26, 1942, to the late James Arthur Spratley Sr. and Sarah Lee Alston Spratley. He resided in Smithfield, Virginia, during his adolescent years. He lived in Nyack, New York most of his adult life, where he was employed with Pfizer Pharmaceuticals as an Air Conditioning Refrigeration Technician for over 30 years.

He was a humble man with a kind and loving heart, he loved his family greatly. James was a devoted Saxophonist who played for Faith Temple Church Choirin Spring Valley New York. He loved the Lord and his church family. Studying the word of God with his friends meant a lot to him. It was through those fellowships that his faith and personal relationship with the Lord grew stronger. James loved taking spontaneous trips with his family to amusement parks, Rye Beach and Six Flags were his favorites. He was always clean cut and was a sharp dresser.

He was predeceased by his daughters Paulette Spratley and Wanda Marie Spratley: his siblings, Ida Rose Spratley, Lillie Johnson and Sarah Ann Robinson; and brother Frank Lee. Spratley Sr., brother-in-law Smith Allen Robinson Jr. and a nephew Wendell Spratley.

James fought the good fight of faith, he finished the race, he kept the faith. Now there is in store for him the crown of righteousness which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award him on that day, and not only to him but also to all who have longed for his appearing.( 2 Timothy 4:7-8).

Through this journey he shared a special bond with his sister Sandra Banks and niece Sheena Spratley, who played a vital role in his caregiving. Also, special thanks to Fresenius Kidney Care and staff Smithfield, Virginia for all you’ve done for James over the years your services were appreciated.
