James R. Bagner Sr.

January 16, 1928 — November 12, 2020

To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted; A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up; A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance Ecclesiastes 3:1-4" James Robert Bagner, Sr., 92, of Suffolk, VA transitioned on Thursday, November 12, 2020 in his residence. He was a native of New Jersey and the son of Henry Bagner and Margaret Lattimore Bagner. He was preceded in death by his first wife- Thelma C. Bagner of fifty eight years, siblings, Mable, Mattie, Ida, Mary, Emmett, Richard, Ervin, Randolph, Addison, and Fletcher. He was a graduate of Isle of Wight Training School in Isle of Wight County. James accepted the Lord as his Savior at an early age at God's Praying Band Ministry and joined The Campbell Chapel A.M.E. Church Carrollton, VA. Later in life, he joined Christian Home Baptist Church Windsor, VA where he was faithful in the deacon, music, and golden age ministries. His love for music extended beyond the church, he sang tenor with the Virginia Hummingbirds Quartet of Smithfield, VA, The Community Mass Choir, Tidewater Workshop Choir, and thoroughly enjoyed the Bill Gaither Gospel Hour. James was an entrepreneur and owner of a television repairs business. He was a salesman for Town and Country, Electrolux Vacuum Cleaners, insurance agent, greeter at Walmart, and a retiree of Newport News Shipyard as a supervisor after 30 years of devoted service. On June 23, 2015 he married his beloved, Louise Diggs Bagner. They enjoyed a beautiful life together. He often referred to her as his number one and she was giving him the best care anyone could ask. Then he would laugh and say "I'm fine as silk and I don't have a pain anywhere." Left to cherish his memory is his devoted wife, Louise D. Bagner and their blended family, his son, James R. Bagner, Jr. (Lorisa), daughter, Pacquita D. Ford (Reginald); bonus daughters, Joyce Carney, Veda Godwin, Chenita Wells (Rayfield), Leticia Diggs and Danielle Diggs, bonus sons, Morris Williams, Marvin Williams, James K. "On this journey there are many paths some long and some that conclude in just a single step. However, it is inevitable that no matter how wonderful or sorrowful the journey through life may be, it will eventually come to an end.
