James Brown, Jr.

James Lee Brown, Jr. transitioned from this life on Saturday, February 13, 2021. He was born May 30, 1935 to the late James and Marion Brown. James was a native of Isle of Wight County. He attended Isle of Wight County Public Schools. James was a dedicated worker for Gwaltney of Smithfield and Warwick Heating and Plumbing. He enjoyed boxing, watching Judge Judy and the Price is Right. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Roberta Brown, Dorothy B. Davis, Loretta Batten, brothers Willie and Earl Brown. His wife, Mrs. Modella V. Brown, daughters, Antoinette Underwood, and Janet Brown: son Alvin Brown and grandson Andre Massenburg also preceded him in death. He leaves to cherish his memories ten children: Sylvia Massenburg (Alvin), Brenda Massenburg, Anthony Brown (Bernice), Eunice Chisley (Ronald), James Brown, III, Darryl (Tracy), Darlene Outlaw, Gwendolyn Saunders (Rex), Shelia Picott (Meredith), Alicia Delk, Walter Wilson, and Melvin Wilson. sisters: Nancy Sykes, Vernell Brown, Edna Robinson and Marion Smith; one brother George Brown (Dorothy) and host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends A Graveside Celebration of Life will be held 12pm Saturday, February 20, 2021 at Christian Home Baptist Church Cemetery. Viewing will take place Friday, February 19, 2021 from 4-6pm at Shivers Funeral Chapel. Mr. Brown is in the loving and professional care of Shivers Funeral Chapel.
