Jacqueline S Cofer

February 19, 1946 — December 3, 2019

On December 3, 2019, Jacqueline Ann Cofer affectionally known as "Jackie" transitioned from her earthy life of 73 years into her eternal home in glory with her Heavenly Father. Jacqueline was born on February 19, 1946 in Surry County, VA to Violet Clark Savedge and the late Randolph Bennie Savedge. She received her education in the Surry County Public School System. Jacqueline worked as a seamstress for London Fog Corporation in Portsmouth, VA for more than 10 years and she was a manager of the jewelry department at Value City in Newport News, VA for nearly 12 years. She was a beautiful, lovincy virtuous woman who was a pillar of strength to her family, friends and church community. She deeply loved her church family, Mt. Moriah NME church, where she served faithfully as a stewards missionary president, Sunday school teacher, assisted with church beautification and a choir member. She fervently enjoyed singing praises to the Lord in the Jubilee choir and she thoroughly loved singing with her sisters (Jane and Beatrice) in their gospel trio called "Spirit Three." Furthermore, Jacqueline was extremely creative artistic as she found joy in drawing, painting and floral arranging in her spare time. Jacqueline was always fashionably elegant. Her radiant beauty, grace and charm coupled with her sweet and gentle spirit was felt bv all who encountered here She was a lady of class, faith and dignity, and today her children, family and friends arise to call her blessed and highly favored. Jacqueline leaves to cherish her memories, her devoted husband, Martin Cofer, Sr., of 56 years; and to their union two children were born, Angela Cofer Walker of Windsor, VA, Martin Cofer Jr. (Ginger) of Newport Newsy VA. She also leaves to cherish her mother, Violet Clark Savedge of Elberon, VA., one brother, Bennie Savedge, (Vanessa) of Surry, VA and four sisters, A. Jane Ellis (Russell) of Waverly, VA., Beatrice Liggins (Wilbert) of Smithfield, VA., Judy Urquhart (Earnest) oi Surry; Vxj Pat Culver (SeQuincy) of Lawrenceville, GA., three sister-in-laws Virginia Walker (Luther) of Smithfield, V, Joyce Jarrett of Smithfield, VA., Lillie Newby of Smithfield, VA., six grandchildren, Jakita, Marcus, Odell, Owen, Thomas, Taylor, one oreat-granddauohier, Ke'Lani and a host of devoted nieces, nephews, cousins, familv and Friends A Celebration of Life Service will be held 12pm Tuesday, December 10, 2019 at Mount Moriah A.M.E. Church 8438 White Marsh Rd, Elberon, VA 23846. Viewing will take place Monday December 9, 2019 from 4-7pm at Shivers Funeral Chapel. Professional services entrusted to Shivers Funeral Chapel.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held 12pm Tuesday, December 10, 2019 at Mount Moriah A.M.E. Church 8438 White Marsh Rd, Elberon, VA 23846. Viewing will take place Monday December 9, 2019 from 4-7pm at Shivers Funeral Chapel. Professional services entrusted to Shivers Funeral Chapel.
