India Evora Newby

India E. Cooper Newby, "E" as she was caringly known to most people was born on August 8, 1953 to Virta M. Cooper and John Cooper Sr. She went on to live with God on Saturday August 31, 2019. She was preceded in death by her son Steven D. Cooper, her mother Virta M. Picott Cooper, her father John Cooper Sr., and a brother Gary L. Cooper Sr., India is leaving behind a host of people to cherish her loving memory. A husband, Will A. Newby Sr; two sons Gregory L. Cooper Sr., and Will A. Newby Jr.; sisters and brothers, John Cooper Jr., Glenda M. Cooper, Betty A. Jackson (Cedric Jackson Sr.,) Evelyn Green, and Lee A. Cooper; Nieces and Nephews Shaniqua Jackson, Dia Gurley (Thomas Gurly), Shalita Jackson, Shikura Jackson, Cedric Jackson Jr, Gary L. Cooper Sr., Steven Cooper, Justin Cooper of North Carolina. Grandchildren Gregory Cooper Jr., and Amiyah L. Cooper, and a host of other family and friends. India was a role model and best friend to her family, friends and all that knew her. She loved and was proud of her family in everything they have done. She cared deeply for her children and grandchildren and was so proud of the way they grew up. She was a great cook and many people know her from working at Tom and Jerry Quick Stop for many years. She was a member at Dunamis Christian Center of Newport News until her health failed her. Her kind, loving, and gentle spirit will be greatly missed but never forgotten. We love you "E.' Forever and always. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11am Saturday September 7, 2019 at Shivers Funeral Chapel. Viewing will take place Friday September 6, 2019 from 4-7pm also at the Chapel.
