Ida E. Evans

May 9, 1936 — October 30, 2018

On Tuesday, October 30, 2018, God sent His Angels to escort Ida Eleanor Evans to her heavenly home. Ida was born to Clarence and Emma J. Evans on May 9, 1936 in Isle of Wight County, she was the eldest of three siblings. Ida was educated in the Old Isle of Wight County public school system. Ida reared her only son, Larry Danel Evans. Ida accepted Christ at any early age. She became a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church. She was a godly woman who served the Lord with joy and boldness. With great faith, Ida stood firmly on the Word of God. In her early years, Ida worked as a child care provider and as a domestic worker. Ida later gained employment with Gwaltney Meat Packing Plant, where she retired after 29 years of service. After retirement, Ida became very active volunteering at The Retirement Center at Nike Park. Ida also was a Missionary and a faithful, dedicated member of Emmanuel Baptist Church until her health declined. Ida was a loving mother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. Ida was preceded in death by both her mother and father, Clarence Evans, Sr. and Emma Jane Evans; and brother Clarence Evans, Jr. She leaves to cherish her fond memories son Larry D. Evans (Wanda); sister Frances Rose Jenkins, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. We rest in the peace that surpasses all understanding of physical death knowing that Ida's heart and soul belongs to Jesus. By faith, we believe she has overcome physical death to obtain the crown of everlasting life. To God be the glory! A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11am Saturday, November 3, 2018 at Emmanuel Baptist Church, Smithfiled, VA. Viewing will be held on Friday, November 2, 2018 from 4-7pm at the chapel.
