Hobert Earl Graves, 63, passed away on Tuesday, October 20, 2015 at the Lake Taylor Transitional Care Hospital in Norfolk, Virginia. He was a native of Suffolk, VA and graduate of John Yates High School Class of '72. He was employed at Gwaltney of Smithfield for 34 years. His hobbies and interests included watching sports, being a diehard Redskins fan, whether they won or not. He also enjoyed going fishing, listening to all types of music especially his favorite artist Bob Marley. Preceding in his rest was his parents, Hobert L. and Margaret Graves. Two children, Shermetia Ricks, Hobert E. Graves Jr., and his sister Eva Ensley. Surviving members family, his wife of 19 years Joyce (Neicey) Graves of Smithfield, Virginia, Stepson Tony Vaughan Sr. of Suffolk; two grandchildren Chacobi and Tony Vaughan Jr., three godchildren, Layfette Langhorne Jr., Daniel Langhorne, and Consuelo Taylor (Tony). Three god sisters Romona Ross, Mary and Martha Langhorne, and Carol Robertson. Three god brothers Willie Langhorne, Lafayette Langhorne, and Roy Wynn. Three brothers-in-law, five sisters-in-law, a special grandmother-in-law, Georgia M. Shivers, who always looked after him, and a special Aunt Hester M. Washington. Along with a host of other Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, and friends. A Funeral Service will be held 12pm, Monday October 26, 2015 at Shivers Funeral Chapel. Viewing on Sunday from 3:00pm-5:00pm at the Chapel. Interment will be held in New Jones Grove Church Cemetery. .Burial Date October 26, 2015
