Herbert T. Wells

On Saturday, March 7, 2020, Elder Herbert T Wells transitioned this life to eternal rest. Elder Herbert T. Wells, 90, was born July 22, 1929 to Junious and Gertrude Wells in Isle of Wight County, VA.He was employed at Smithfield Packing Plant for 13 years and retired from Newport News Shipbuilding in 1995 after 23 years of service. He pastored Faith Deliverance Prayer Mission Franklin, VA, for 13 years. Later on, his last worship was at True Apostolic Faith Church Dendron, VA. Elder Wells loved the Lord. You would often see him sitting on the porch reading the bible, singing and playing his guitar. He loved working in his garden. He was affectionately known for singing in his tenor voice, "There's a Sweet Sweet Spirit in this Place." He also loved people and talking about the goodness of Jesus. Every Tuesday, he would join other ministers for their nursing home ministries. Elder Wells was preceded in death by his parents Junious and Gertrude Wells, his daughter Carolyn Wells, his wife Naomi Taliaferro Wells and numerous brothers and sisters. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 34 years, Peggy JonesWells; children Doris Tynes (Thurl), Herbert R. Wells (Chenita), EricWells (Paula), Craig Wells (Karolmaine), Simona Smalls, John Thomas(Keisha), Sabina Clarke, Lisa Ward (Dirk), Kenneth Thomas, Pamela Mizzelle (Milton), and Kimberly Thomas; brothers, Leo Wells (Irene) and David Wells; a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren; his father-in-law ElderLawrence Jones and his sisters- in- law Virginia Uzzle, Velma Addison and Janice Mason. He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews cousins and friends.

Burial Date March 17, 2020

A Celebration of Life Service will be held 12pm Tuesday March 17, 2020 at Mt. Tabor C.O.G.I.C. Smithfield, VA. Viewing will take place Monday March 16, 2020 from 4-7pm at Shivers Funeral Chapel. Elder Wells is in the loving and professional care of ShiversFuneral Chapel.
