Life and Legacy of “Juni’ Henry Wells, Jr.

‘Juni” as he was affectionately called, went on to be with his Savior on February 3, 2023. Born to the late Henry and Mary Winnegan Wells, he was a native of Isle of Wight County and educated in isle of Wight Public Schools. His love of mechanics started at an early age. He was self-taught ,then went to work for Kello Motor company and later owned his own business Wells Garage where he loved teaching others his craft. He was one of the best mechanics around. He also had a love for motorcycles, farming, taking trips and the Redskins (now Commanders).

He was a member of Mt Sinai Baptist Church and attended regularly until his health started to fail. Henry loved his children and grandchildren dearly. He loved family gatherings and cookouts.

 He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Portia Wells, his son Henry Wells, II, five brothers; Edward M. Wells, James T. Wells, George L. Wells, Joe L. Wells, Charles Wells and one sister Murty W. Harris.

He leaves to cherish his memory two sons, Lawrence L. Delk (Zina) and Sherman Wells (Shelia) and one loving dedicated daughter Sharon D. Wells, one sister, Veronica “Ronnie” Gaskins; In Laws, Joyce Delk (Wilbur), Carrie Williams, Dorothy Wilkerson, Bernard King, Billy King, Frances Robertson and Nellie M. Wells; 10 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, a special niece Jean Godwin; lifelong friends James Haskins and Beatrice Green and his special friend of many years Sadie Davis along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held 1:00pm on Saturday, February 11, 2023 at Mt. Sinai Baptist Church 14165 Racetrack Rd. Ivor, Va. Pastor Douglas Charity will give the eulogy. Interment immediately following the service at Mt Sinai Baptist Church Cemetery. Viewing will take place on Friday, February 10, 2023 from 3-6pm at the chapel.
