The Life of Sister Hattie Clarke Roberts Almighty God in his own way and for his own purpose took unto himself our beloved sister, aunt, cousin and friend, Ms. Hattie Clarke Roberts, born March 5, 1916 to the late Morgan Clarke and Elnor Gwaltney Clarke, in Isle of Wight County. She departed this life Monday, February 29, 2016 at Autumn Care Nursing Home in Suffolk, VA. Hattie was preceded in death by her parents, Morgan Clarke and Elnor Gwaltney Clarke; her husband, John Wesley Roberts Jr.; her son, James Clarke; her sisters, Blanche Wilson, Viola Hill, Hilda Haskins, Miziner Roberts and Aston Watkins; her brothers, Charlie, Theophilus, Elisha, Tiebules and Herbert Clarke. Hattie received her early education at Isle of Wight County Schools. She was employed most of her life as a caregiver at Elmwood Manor Nursing Home, Nanuet, New York. Hattie leaves to cherish her memory, her sister, Shirley C. Pierce (Wesley); two grandsons, Brandon Steward and Jermaine Clarke of Suffolk, VA; two granddaughters, Jackqueline Clarke of New York and Robin Clarke of Smithfield, VA; four great grandchildren; a special caretaker and niece, Kathy Diane Pierce, Smithfield; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Burial Date March 5, 2016

A Celebration of Life service will be held 12pm Saturday March 05, 2016 at Shivers Funeral Chapel. Public viewing will be held Friday March 04, 2016 from 4-7pm at the chapel. Interment will be held in the Mt. Sinai Church Cemetery, Zuni, Va
