Geraldine Keys Chapman

On October 9, 2019, our beloved Deaconess, Geraldine L.Chapman, transitioned from life at home with her husband, Willie by her side. Deaconess Geraldine Chapman, 87 was born in Petersburg, VA on April 5, 1932 to the late Wesley Keys, Sr. and Lucille Jackson Keys.

She accepted Christ at an early age while attending church with her aunt Adell Holloman in Ivor, VA. Later, she moved to Central Hill, VA where she attended Mount Olive  Holiness church where she was baptized in 1975. She joined Penecostal Holiness Church where she served as Senior Choir President. She enjoyed singing in the choir until her health prevented her from continuing. Geraldine remained a.faithful servant in sickness and in health. She was a devoted member of Pentecostal Holiness Church for 44 years. She was also a self taught pianist; She Loved the Lord. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, baking and being a wonderful homemaker; she made the best sweet potato pies!

On November 5, 1953 she married Willie A. Chapman. To this union. they had 9 children; Jean M Lewis (James), Rosa L. Bland (Tommy), Ronell Chapman (Joyce), Angelia L. Jones ( Shelton), Eilenda Ricks, Glen Chapman (Lashell), Mae Chapman, Steve Chapman Lisa, and Rita Beale (JC). Geraldine is preceded in death by her parents, Wesley Keys, Sr. and Luelle Jackson Keys; brothers Wesley Keys, Jr., and Robert Lee Keys; sisters Velma Mae Keys, and Marcella Keys; granddaughter Lisa Jean Chapman, and great grandson Divine Dreshun Clarke.

She leaves to cherish her precious memories her husband of 65 years, Willie A. Chapman; her children, her sister Adell Brown, sister in law Julia Keys; grandchildren Mark Cypress, Edward Cypress, Jamie Lewis, Jason Bland, Renaita Chapman, Kimberly Davis, Dwayne, Shelto1 Dean, Andrenna, and Antionette Chapman, Catrice Ricks, Andre, Damaino, and Jacoba Chapman, Latasha May, Alvin, Tifany, and Theodore Chapman, Andrienne Etherdge, Toja Sovereign, James Beale, Jr., Ciera Jennings, Justin, and Endia Chapmanand Lory Dent; 44 Great grandchildren, 7 great great grandchildren and an abundance of Family and friends. - A Celebration of Life Service will be held 12pm Monday October 14, 2019 at Shivers Funeral Chapel. Viewing will take place Sunday October 13, 2019 from 2-5 PM at Shivers Funeral Chapel. Professional services entrusted to Shivers Funeral Chapel.
