Obituary "Gale Yvonne Shelton Collins" Windsor– On Monday, June14, 2021 in the still of the afternoon, our beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, heard the quiet whisper of her name and Gale Collins went home to be with the Lord peacefully. She was born on January 30, 1950 in Albemarle County, Virginia. She is preceded in death by mother Clarrissa Elizabeth Reid (Bert) and fathers, Hayward Randolph Shelton Sr., Bert Thompson Reid Sr., and son, Charles Lavonne “Chuckie” Shelton Gale better known as "Breezy" or "Gram" started her early education at PS 143 in Corona, New York and later relocated to Stephen J. Ellis Elementary School in Dillwyn, Virginia. Later , she relocated to Hollis Queens, New York where she graduated in 1968 from Andrew Jackson High School. After graduation she attended Queens Borough Community College. She started her career working at the Post Office in Flushing, New York. Later she married Leon Wayne Collins and they moved to Junction City, Kansas. Gale returned to New York where she worked at the New York Telephone Co (Later changed to Verizon) for over 30 years and retired in 2006 as a manager. Gale accepted the Lord at an early age and joined Ebenezer Baptist Church in Flushing, New York. After retiring she relocated to Cape May, New Jersey where she became the caregiver to her mom (Clarrissa) and stepfather (Bert) until their death. She decided to work part time at Wal-Mart where she met so many people. She rededicated her life to Christ and joined The Soar Church in Woodbine, New Jersey. Gale had a ray of sunshine that turned into a magnet that drew people to her. She was a stranger to no one. Her biggest hobby and love was music. There was no song she could not name. Her favorite artist was "Smokey Robinson". She also loved bowling and was a member of several leagues. During her spare time she loved volunteering her services with the Boys and Girls Club, but her biggest joy was her love for her family. She felt family was everything. She looked forward to spending time with all her family and friends who she loved unconditionally. Gale leaves behind her daughter Ms. Tuesday Ninetta Collins “Nina”, her brother Mr. Hayward “Ronnie” Shelton Jr. (Patricia), her sister Ms. Ann Rose Shelton, her grand children Mrs. Nicole McNeill (Kevin Sr.), Mr. Bradford Artis Jr. (Shannon), Mr. Bradlee Artis, her great grandchildren Kevin McNeill Jr. Karter McNeill, Andre Artis, Donte Artis, Jaxxon Artis, Kashmere McNeill, AlexZandria Artis, Kairo McNeill, her nephews Antwine Shelton, James McRae Sr. “Shan”, Julius McRae “Lamont”, her nieces Shajuan McRae, and Victoria Evans. Gale also left behind a host of family members (Aunts, Uncles, Cousins) including sisters in love, brothers in love and so many hearts with her name stamped on them.-- Gale has many “Partners In Crime” the list is endless three are Ms. Yvonne Brown, Ms. Alice Faye Davis and Ms. Glinda Moore (just to name a few). When you see Gale you will see her crew that enjoyed her laughter, her company, her jokes and her love for life. Gale loved God with her heart. She loved her family and she loved her friends unconditionally with no limitations. If you met her you became more than a friend you became family. She is most remembered for her laughter, her smile, her pure heart and for just being herself. If you’ve spoken to her she gave you life advice. She is a Kingdom Woman doing what God wanted her to do. “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith…” II Timothy 4:6-8 A Celebration of Life Service will be held 12pm Saturday, June 26, 2021 at Shivers Funeral Chapel BY INVITATION ONLY. Limited attendance will be strictly adhered to and required. Viewing will be held from 4-6pm Friday, June 25, 2021 at the chapel.
