Frances R. Hardy

Frances Lorraine Hardy, age 77, of Rushmere, VA departed this life at home peacefully, August 17, 2025.

Born in Isle of Wight to the late Luke Robertson Sr. and Lucy Johnson, Frances was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, relative, and friend. She dedicated her life to her family and career and was a retiree of Newport News Shipbuilding.

Frances lived a life full of love, creativity, and devotion. She had a love for community service, crafting, gardening, and seafood. Frances was a faithful member of First Gravel Hill Baptist Church until she became ill. She will always be remembered for her kindness, home remedies, culinary skills, and sense of humor.

Frances leaves to cherish her memory, three sons, Terence Hardy (Lavinia), Vernon Hardy Jr. (Lisa), and Corey Hardy (Sharon); three brothers, Luke Robertson Jr. (Janet), Leroy Robertson (Margaret), Wilbur Robertson (Glynis); two sisters, Rose Walker and Jacklyn Slade; and sister-in-law Barbara Jean Robertson. Frances also leaves grandchildren, Nicole Hardy, Monica Hardy, Christopher Hardy, Jarnell Hardy, Melvin Lunsford III, Kyle Hardy, Cameron Lunsford, Shaniya Hardy, and Justin Hardy; great-grandchildren, Kyleigh Urquhart, Christopher Hardy Jr., and Carmelo Hardy; two aunts, Ophelia Johnson and Mary Diggs; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends. Frances is pre-deceased by two brothers, Ralph Robertson and Hubert Robertson.

Frances will be missed dearly but forever remembered in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

On Friday, August 22, 2025, viewing will be held from 3-6pm at Shivers Funeral Chapel. At 2pm on Saturday, August 23, 2025, a Celebration of Life will be held at First Gravel Hill Baptist Church 5230 Old Stage Highway, Smithfied, VA, 23430. Interment will follow the service in First Gravel Hill Cemetery.  Please keep the Hardy family in your thoughts and prayers.
