Frances W. Butler

Frances Warren Butler answered the call of her Lord and Savior in the morning hours on December 17, 2020. Frances or "Sister" as she was affectionately called by her family and close friends was the only girl child born to the late Clyde and Rosa P. Warren on June 23, 1943. Frances was a life-long resident of Isle of Wight County until her death. Frances was baptized and accepted Christ at a young age. During her youth, she attended Shiloh Baptist Church, later joining her husband serving as a Deaconess at Ebenezer Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. William Smith. Frances still continued to fellowship with her other family under the leadership of Bishop Nathaniel Gomillion at the Tabernacle of Praise Full Gospel Baptist Church in Zuni, VA. Frances was a bus driver for Isle of Wight County Public Schools for forty-two years before retiring in 2014. Frances was preceded in death by both her parents and brothers Milton, Raymond, and Edwin. 

She leaves so many memories to cherish to her devoted and loving husband of 59 years, Joe L. Butler, daughters, Gwendolyn  R. Kindred, Collen W. Butler, and Tara L. Coats, her son, Gerald Butler of North Carolina, Nine grandchildren Robbrel Kindred (Tarja), Dontrel Kindred, Bianco Butler (Misty), Endia Butler, Brittany Blow, Eriahna Banks, Trayvon Butler, Ja’Corey Winslow (Amber), and Tyree’ Winslow; 10 great children and a host of family, nieces, nephews and friends.

Frances will be missed from every family function, the moist cakes she baked, the meals on Sunday she used to prepare for the family, cookouts with the grands, last minute restaurant calls and shopping with  with her daughters. Frances truly loved her family and could always  be home to spend time with them. She was a quiet spirited woman but outspoken in her own way. She was a great mother to her children and a grandmother to many.

A Graveside Celebration will be held 11am Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at Gilfield Baptist Church Cemetery Ivor, VA. Viewing will take place Tuesday, December 22, 2020 from 4-6pm at Shivers Funeral Chapel. Mrs. Butler is in the loving and professional care of Shivers Funeral Chapel.
